1. Bern -> Calvi

April 8th 2006: From Bern over the Alps to Calvi

We are packing all our stuff in the plane. Because of the small available space it doesn’t take long. Take off at 10:30AM with the most beautiful blue sky since several weeks. We fly over the Alps and start then our descent into the northern Italian plane. It is very hazy and we fly as low as 1500 ft. After passing Genoa we receive the permission to climb but the view doesn't get any better for a long time. Only short before reaching Corsica the view improves a lot. We land around 1 PM.

Some of the participants already arrived and together we have dinner. The message gets to us, that Richard, an English MCR-pilot had to land in Gap because of propeller problems. It looks like that they can fix the problem and both English pilot should arrive during the next day.

Pierre is very concerned about the weather. Sunday should be still very good weather but it seams that Monday the weather will turn bad and the flight to Tunis could become difficult.
