April 19th 2006: Flying to Gadames
After a warm and somewhat jerkily night we left the hotel at 7 AM. We wanted to take off before it gat to warm. Again it was very hazy and we couldn't see the mountains very well. It’s a shame.
We climbed to FL 85 to found some cooler air. It was nice to breath cooler air again but the disadvantage was that we couldn't see a lot of the landscape.
After 2.5 hours we arrived in Gadames where temperatures were again as low as 25°.

Visiting Gadames
The hotel we are staying in is brand new and very nice. We feel very comfortable. The whole afternoon we are visiting the old town of Gadames. The town is being restorated by the UNESCO. 7000 people used to live here surrounded by 24'000 date trees. A very nice town with many "under ground" street where temperatures stay reasonable low. We eat a traditional lunch in a restaurant in Old Gadames. We sat on the floor and enjoyed the food. We where pretty tired and some took a little nap.
In the evening we went into the desert to watch some folkloric dance and music.
